We are pleased and grateful that the Japanese school in Arlington Heights is planning two more public research lessons, on June 15 and October 19, 2018. The topic of the June lesson is:
Grade 4, long division (dividing a 3-digit number by a 1-digit number).

This public lesson provides an opportunity to observe both the specifics of how long division is introduced conceptually and an example of this “teaching math through problem-solving” approach. There will be an in-depth discussion of the lesson immediately afterward. Simultaneous translation in English will be provided for the lesson and discussion.
The cost for this unusual opportunity is $150, or $75 for Chicago Public School employees.
